I will take care of this beast, master. I will cut that crown from its HEAD!

— Aym, Pre-battle dialogue

Aym is the faithful servant of The One Who Waits, and the son of Forneus, who was forced to give him and his brother, Baal, away at the behest of the dark god. Since then, he has been faithfully serving his master as one of his guardians and must be fought before the final boss battle with The One Who Waits.

Dialogue

There is not much dialogue from Aym prior to Post-game. However, below are spoilers of the dialogue thereafter.

"Back! Stay back! I will slice your belly open! I will cut that crown from your head!" "What foul place is this? Moments ago I was... I was..."

After Returning Them to Forneus

Baal: "It's you. Usurper of the Red Crown. The one who freed us."

Aym: "Ha! You are nothing compared to our Master. We have not been in this world long, but already I can tell you are weak. You lack discipline. Our Master wielded Death with precision and control. You allow chaos to reign."

Baal: "What my brother means to say is thank you."

Combat Behaviour

Overview

After defeating Baal, the Lamb will have to face Aym. He is a stationary boss yet strangely mobile miniboss that will only attack with fireball or chain patterns, teleporting before every attack as his only way of repositioning. Unlike his brother, he will not summon enemies to fight with him but will telegraph his attacks at random all the same.

Attacks and actions

Aym shoots rings at random speeds that boomerang back in the opposite direction.

Returning Fireball Pattern: Aym will float in the air with his staff spinning next to him while he launches rings of fireballs in random directions at random speeds around the arena. Any ring that hasn't been completely destroyed by impacting the borders of the arena will boomerang back in the other direction at higher speeds.

Aym launches large circles of fireballs at the Lamb.

Circle Fireball Pattern: Aym will float in the air with his staff spinning next to him while he conjures large circles of fireballs around him, launching them at the Lamb at high speeds.

Aym conjures several lines of chains in the Lamb's direction.

Line Chain Pattern: Aym will hold his hands as if in prayer while his staff floats in front of him, then will conjure a minimum of three lines of chains emerging from the ground in the Lamb's direction and can conjure up to a maximum of six lines of chains. Aym will usually wait longer after having done this attack before teleporting again and so will often be open to attacks, although Aym's animation does not follow the number of lines conjured and players should be careful not to get hit by a stray line of chains.

Aym conjures a continuous line of chains that follows the Lamb for several seconds.

Homing Chain Pattern: Aym will hold his hands as if in prayer while his staff floats in front of him, then conjure a homing line of emerging chains that will follow the player until the attack ends. A minimum of eight chains will emerge from this line, with a maximum of fifteen.

Upon the defeat of The One Who Waits, it is possible to obtain him as a follower by using the ritual Sacrifice of the Flesh on a follower wearing the Dark Necklace.
  • He can be returned to Forneus for the Tears of the Merciful Mother Relic. Note that you cannot get him back afterwards as he stays with her.
  • After returning them to Forneus, He and Baal can be found in a random encounter during crusades, where they will speak with the lamb.

Trivia

Aym is likely named after the demon of the same name in the Ars Goetia.
