Eligos is the second boss of the Anura biome.

Description

Visually Eligos is an amalgamation of both the Burp Hopper and the Big Bat. Unlike either, they are far larger and have boiling warts on their belly.

They are a follower of Heket.

Combat

Attack Pattern:

Eligos Purged
  1. Eligos will not attack and after a few second will spew red flies.
    • Note: The flies can be destroyed with melee attacks and some curses
  2. Eligos will move to one side/corner of the stage, charge up and then dash to the opposite side/corner. Along his path he will shoot projectiles
    • Note: If any of the flies are remaining, they will all disappear after the projectiles have disappeared.
  3. Eligos will then dash towards the Lamb (if the Lamb is in the opposite corner Eligos only travels about 1/3 of the distance to the Lamb)
  4. Repeat

Tactics

If the weapon you are using has a wide range of attacks (eg the axe) If is possible to eliminate some the flies and possibly get in an extra attack while Eligos is spitting out flies.

Generally it is best to wait until the end of Eligos' attack pattern, at which point the player will have a few second to attack before Eligos restarts the pattern. Repeat until victory.

Trivia

The name "Eligos" comes from The Lesser Key of Solomon, a 17th-century grimoire compiling texts on sorcery, angels, and demons. The first book of the grimoire, the Ars Goetia ("Art of Witchcraft"), lists a hierarchy of demons that rule over Hell, listing Eligos as a Great Duke of Hell. He is depicted as a knight wielding a lance and riding a bat-winged horse.
