Your Cult has a Faith.png Faith level which is affected by your actions as leader, and whether or not your Followers are being well cared for. To keep it high, perform Rituals, preach Sermons, cook food and build shelters for them. The current Faith level is indicated in the upper left corner.

Effects

When your Cult's Faith becomes too low, Followers may dissent and try to convince others to turn against you as well. Dissenters won't do any work, spread falsehood to turn other Cult members into dissenters, and will leave the cult if unchecked for too long, while also stealing 15-40% of your total Coins. Dissenters that leaves the cult cannot be resurrected until found and killed at future Crusades.

To deal with dissenters, you can either re-educate them, or dispose them

  • Re-educate: There is a "Re-educate" action on the dissenter that you can do once per day to lower the Dissent meter by 7.5. Putting the dissenter in Prison increases the effectiveness to 25, while also locking the Dissent meter from going up. You can also feed the dissenter meals that stop dissenting like Magnificent Mixed Meal or Minced Follower Meat.
  • Disposing: There are plenty way to get rid of a dissenter - feed them Deadly Dish, Murder them, sacrifice them, send them on a Missionary with low chance of success, turn them into Gold statue...

  • Perform a Sermon: +10, or +15 with "Devotee" trait.
  • Bless a Follower: +5
  • Inspire a Follower: +7
  • Reassure a Follower with "Coward" trait: +5
  • Nurture a baby/child Follower: +5
  • Declared new Doctrine: +10
  • Gift Follower Small Gift: +5
  • Gift Follower Big Gift: +10
  • Gift Follower necklace: +7
  • Upgrade the Cult: +25
  • Cult has a new member: +5
  • Recruit a new member with "Naturally Obedient" trait: +10
  • A corpse got buried in a Body Pit: +5
  • A Follower ate Minced Follower Meat (with "Cannibal" trait): +5
  • A follower ate Delicious Fish Feast or Splendid Vegetable Feast: +5
  • A Follower who has "Coprophiliac" trait whenever they're sick: +10
  • An elderly Follower died of anything but old age (with "Good Die Young" trait): +10
  • A Follower reached old age (with "Respect your Elders" trait): +5
  • A follower grieved at a Grave: +2
  • Dissenter no longer dissents: +15

Lowering Faith

Events that reduce Faith:

  • Recruit a new member with "Natural Skeptical" trait: -10
  • Followers who have "Germaphobe" trait whenever they're sick: -10 each Follower.
  • Bully a Follower with "Coward" trait: -5
  • Neglect a baby/child Follower (after 1 day of not nurturing) -15
  • A Follower died: -20, or -5 with "Belief in Afterlife" trait.
  • A Follower who has "Terrified of Death" trait whenever another Follower died: -5
  • A Followers who has "Against Sacrifice" trait whenever the Sacrifice ritual is performed: -5
  • Breaking up fights between two Followers: -5
  • An elderly Follower died of old age (with "Good Die Young" trait): -20
  • Murdering a Follower at daytime, near other Followers: -40
  • Butchered a corpse at daytime, near other Followers (without "Cannibal" trait): -20
  • Imprison an innocent Follower: -15, or -2 with "Belief in Original Sin" trait.
  • A Wedding ritual is performed: -5 for each living spouse you have, due to jealousy.
  • A Follower ate Grassy Gruel (without "Grass Eater" trait): -5
  • Cracking an Egg: -? (-? with Golden Egg)
  • Interrupted a Follower: -1
  • Woke up a Follower at night: -5
