Location

Witness Astaroth resides in Anchordeep, the 3rd biome in Cult of the Lamb, unlockable by beating Leshy, Heket, and Kallamar. you will find Witness Astaroth in the room where the miniboss usually will be, though you will have to kill Kallamar to access its room. when you find the Kallamar, statue it will have an X on it, if broken, it will open up a portal. if you want to fight Witness Astaroth, do not go through the portal. continue through without dying and you will find Witness Astaroth.

Appearance

Witness Astaroth shows 3 eyes, though donning four, it has 3 tentacles on each side of its body along with four black dots on each corner with a red line in the center. it has 2 wooden horns atop it's head and black goop dripping down it's center eye as well as the bottom of it's body. Witness Astaroth resembles the shape of a jellyfish.

Combat

Witness Astaroth's first attack is firing a radius of projectiles, similar to the Radial Turret Worm. The second attack is similar, but the projectiles get continuously fired toward the player instead of firing them in a radius.

When the Witness takes a significant amount of damage, it will teleport away, spawning several Anchordeep enemies. These have to be killed in order for Witness Astaroth to return. The treshold to spawn enemies seems to be around every quarter of health lost, with the last wave being two minibosses from Anchordeep. However, Witness Astaroth being vulnerable for around a second and a half before spawning each wave, it is possible to kill him first with significant enough damage (e.g. Fleece of the Berserker) and completely skip the last wave.

This continues until Witness Astaroth is dead.

Loot

When defeating Witness Astaroth you will gain a lot of coins, fervour, and an Eye of the Witness. If you give this Eye of the Witness to Plimbo, he will give you a Holy Talisman piece. you will also gain a new follower from Witness Astaroth, whom you can convert to your cult. If you defeat his form from the post-end content added by the Relics of the Old Faith DLC, however, you will only get an Eye of the Witness upon first defeating him, along with the usual God Tear and boss chest, containing coins and fervour.
